About Henna

Henna is a small shrub called Lawsonia Inermis. It grows in hot climates such as is found in Iran, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Syria, Egypt, Morocco and North African countries.

The plants are cultivated and the leaves are dried. Once the leaves are dried, they are ground into a fine powder and sifted to remove any remaining stems and vanes.

The art of body decorating with henna can be traced back to ancient times.

Henna acts as a natural sunscreen. If you have a henna design on your skin and then get some sun, you will notice a "negative" of your design once the henna fades.

When choosing henna powder, look for a nice, bright, pea green color. Expiring henna will appear olive in color.
